Urban Photo Race is a photography marathon that is held in various cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and London. The race challenges participants to experience the city in a different way. The goal is to photograph various specified themes within a certain time frame. The logo is inspired by lines and signs on the road and by the dynamics of the city. The logo has several forms of expression and can therefore be experienced in different ways without losing recognisability.
The logo of the hardcore punk band Black Flag is so powerful because of all its simplicity. The logo was designed by Raymond Pettibon, who also came up with the band name. 'If a white flag means surrender, a black flag represents anarchy.' Raymond Pettibon says. The band sprayed the simple, eye-catching logo everywhere on the walls in Los Angeles and caught the attention of both fans and the Los Angeles Police Department. A perfect example of the power of a good logo.
