The Thrasher logo could easily appear on the facade of a shawarma tent. The typeface (Banco), from typographer Roger Excoffon, was designed in 1951. The skateboard magazine Thrasher was founded in 1981 and they immediately made it cool. For over forty years all skate generations and wanna bees (Justin Bieber) have worn this logo on their shirts. And it is still on the cover of the magazine. A good example of how strong their brand values are and how they let a (actually quite ugly) logo shine.

Das BuroBeing born and raised in Zeeland, it was an enormous honor when we were asked to design the visual identity of the Province of Zeeland. All the greater was the astonishment about the public anger that flared up after the announcement of the predecessor of the current logo. A version without the Zeeland lion. Thousands of proud Zeelanders made themselves heard when the lion was ‘stolen’ from the logo. The provincial government withdrew the logo and after a multiple choice poll the current logo with lion was chosen. The storm has subsided again and luckily we were able to continue with our lives.
