The logo for the Polish city oil company CPN - (Centrala Produktow Naftowych), remains one of the best Polish designs for me. It also proves that the quality of design in Poland in the 1960s has been much more than just the Polish poster school. The origin of the spatiality of this logo lies in the Polish graphical tradition of black and white woodcut (1930s of the XX century). The technical limitation to think in black and white has produced a brilliant result here. The company itself exists under the name Orlen and uses a new logo.
Cyprian Koscielniak
Cyprian KoscielniakI understood the question of choosing my own best logo as a question about the best working logo that I designed. I designed a few other logos that were much better, but they didn't have lasting success. In 2004 my friend (art director Leszek Bielski) commissioned me to design a logo for the new TokFM radio station. The name was a corruption of the English word ’talk’. Almost 15 years later, TokFM is still one of the best independent channels in Poland. The logo is immensely popular, but it has since been considerably maimed by unprofessional intervention.
