The RO Theater is (was) a fantastic theater / company anyway (merged at the end of 2017). The logo is super basic and very recognizable. A smile and a tear. That is theater. A golden find. Ancient symbols, actually cliché, but the RO logo is contemporary and very original. Super cool how this logo always appeared differently, for example on the posters. 75B says, 'The logo refers to the Greek muses Thalia and Melpomene.' Thalia is the muse of comedy, one of her attributes is the comic mask. Melpomene is the muse of tragedy, one of its attributes is the tragedy mask.

De OntwerpersWe were commissioned to develop the visual identity of a new theater to be built in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde. The theater was developed according to the principles of community arts: activities are realized for and by residents in collaboration with artists. That is why we determined the name and direction of the look & feel together with future users. We started the design process with three-dimensional letters, cut from styrofoam, which we lit theatrically as if they were set pieces. We made variations in drop shadow and changed the color of the light. Photos of this are the foundation of Islemunda's visual identity.
